The Royals acquired right-hander Trevor Oaks and infielder Erick Mejia in a three-team trade with the Dodgers and White Sox.
The Royals sent Joakim Soria to the White Sox and rid themselves of all but one million dollars of Soria’s ten-million dollar contract for 2018. Left-hander Scott Alexander was shipped to the Dodgers.
The 24-year-old Oaks went 4-and-3 with a 3.64 ERA in 16 games, 15 of them starts, last season for the Dodgers’ Triple-A Oklahoma City club. He was setback by an oblique injury in July. The switch-hitting 23-year-old Mejia hit .289 last season in 102 games last season with the Dodgers’ Double-A Tulsa club in the Texas League.
