According to USA Today, the Kansas City Royals have offered Gold Glove and Silver Slugger Award winning first baseman Eric Hosmer a franchise-record seven-year, $147 million contract.  Negotiations are still undergoing.

Hosmer also has a seven-year, $140 million offer from the Padres, according to USA Today sources, which is $1 million less a year than the Royals’ deal.

The 28-year old Hosmer hit .318 with 25 homers and 94 RBI with a career-best .385 on-base percentage, and has hit at least 25 homers with 90 or more RBI the past two years.  He is seeking an eight or nine-year deal.
