Missourinet 7 a.m. News 1-3-2018

January 3, 2018 By Jason Taylor

Top Stories:  Republicans start the 2018 Missouri legislative session with a nearly three-to-one majority in both chambers.  They hold a 113-to-46 advantage in the House, while their margin in the Senate will be 25-to-9, once GOP Representative Mike Cierpoit is sworn into the upper chamber today.  Cierpoit, who won a special election last year, will resign his House seat once he’s sworn into the Senate.  And Greene County Sheriff Jim Arnott is suing Missouri State Auditor Nicole Galloway.  The lawsuit cites Galloway for declining to release whistleblower complaints alleging misuse of public funds to promote a 1/2-cent sales tax.
