The Kansas City Chiefs defeated the Denver Broncos, 27-24, at Sports Authority Field at Mile High on Sunday to finish the season with a 10-6 record.

Rookie quarterback Patrick Mahomes, who made his first-career start on Sunday, led a 67-yard scoring drive in the game’s closing minutes to set up a game-winning, 30-yard field goal for kicker Harrison Butker.

Mahomes completed 22 of 35 passes for 284 yards and an interception on the afternoon, finding wide receiver Albert Wilson a career-high 10 times for 147 yards.  Rookie Kareem Hunt carried the ball only once but still made his mark, dashing for a 35-yard score less than a minute into the game. The run moved Hunt into the league-lead for rushing yards this season.

Fullback Anthony Sherman added another touchdown late in the second quarter, punching in the first rushing score of his seven-year career. Sherman finished with a career-high 40 yards on 14 attempts.

Linebacker Ramik Wilson also found the end zone for the first time in his career on Sunday, scooping up a fumble for an 11-yard score.

The Chiefs will kick off the postseason Saturday at Arrowhead Stadium facing the Tennessee Titans at 3:35 pm.
