Missouri’s Attorney General says a Kansas City man found to be a sexually violent predator “needs to be removed from society.”

Attorney General Josh Hawley says a jury in western Missouri’s Jackson County has found 38-year-old Michael F. McNamara to be a sexually violent predator.
Hawley describes McNamara as a “diagnosed pedophile with a history of molesting prepubescent female children.”
Hawley says McNamara was given probation in Kansas City in 2009 after taking a plea to molesting a six-year-old girl he was babysitting.
Hawley says that just one month later, McNamara molested two additional girls, ages six and seven.
The Attorney General says that when McNamara was caught, he confessed to molesting a three-year-old girl in 1996, while changing her diaper.
McNamara served prison time and became parole-eligible in 2015. Hawley says McNamara blamed the victims’ mothers for his offenses.
In 2015, then-Missouri Attorney General Chris Koster’s office filed a sexually violent predator petition to keep McNamara off the streets.
“Those who prey upon Missouri’s most vulnerable citizens will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law,” Hawley says in a news release. “I am grateful to the jury for agreeing that Mr. McNamara needs to be removed from society.”
Hawley says McNamara will remain in a secure mental health facility.
