I’ve been pouring over multiple websites and media outlets trying to gather news on the Royals after two days at the Baseball Winter Meetings.  So far, no significant moves outside of the Giancarlo Stanton’s deal to the Yankees, but I’m reading that the Yanks and Cubs are having serious talks with the Royals regarding left handed pitchers Danny Duffy and Scott Alexander.

The Colorado Rockies are also sniffing around to see what it would take to get Kelvin Herrera.  They could be looking for a closer to replace former Royal Greg Holland who was named NL Comeback Player of the Year.

The Royals are looking to trim some payroll and add prospects.  GM Dayton Moore is willing to move both Joakim Soria and Jason Hamel (each scheduled to make $9 million in 2018) and said there are no untouchables on the roster.  Moore admitted he would have to be blown away to deal All-Star catcher Salvador Perez.

Kind of disheartening to know that even fan favorite Perez could be shipped out if the deal was right.  Get ready for another string of 90-loss seasons Royals fans…the club is back to purging and rebuilding.
