The St. Louis Blues placed team captain and defenseman Alex Pietrangelo on injured reserve with a lower-body injury. The club recalled defenseman Jordan Schmaltz from the American Hockey League’s (AHL) San Antonio Rampage.
Pietrangelo is tied for second among all defenseman with seven goals and ranks fifth with 23 points through 30 games this season.
The 24-year old Schmaltz has played in 24 games for the Rampage this season, and is fourth among AHL defensemen overall with 19 points (five goals, 14 assists). Last season, he played in nine games for the Blues.
