Southeast Missouri (1-0) made 19-of-21 free throws and that was the difference in the game as the Redhawks pulled out a 81-69 season-opening victory over Missouri Baptist Friday.  SEMO, which opened a season at home for the first time in 12 years, snapped an 11-game losing streak in season-openers. The Redhawks also posted their 26th-straight win against non-Division I opponents.

Newcomer J.T. Miller led five Missouri State players in double-figures to help the Bears to an 85-80 opening-night victory at Western Kentucky.  Alize Johnson played just 14 minutes but accounted for 13 points and 8 rebounds, including four key free throws in the final 32.1 seconds.

Senior Darral Willis scored 19 points to lead No. 7 Wichita State past Missouri-Kansas City 109-57. Landry Shamet had 17 points, Shaquille Morris scored 16 and Conner Frankamp added 11 to give the Shockers (1-0) four starters in double figures.

Isaiah Ross led Missouri-Kansas City (0-1) with 12 points. Broderick Robinsonscored 11 and Aleer Leek added 10 for the Kangaroos.

The Saint Louis Billikens opened with a 62-46 win over Seattle at Chaifetz Arena.  Senior Aaron Hines scored 18 points on 7 of 11 shooting including 4 of 7 from three point range. Javon Bess added 17 points.
