Blues backup goalie Carter Hutton turned aside both shootout attempts and Brayden Schenn and Alexander Steen scored to give the St. Louis Blues a 3-2 win over the Arizona Coyotes on Thursday night.

The Blues beat the Coyotes for the 12th straight time and have won seven of their last eight overall.

Hutton won for the first time since his son Palmer was born last week and Hutton’s parents were in town.

“It was special,” Hutton said. “I’ve saved the puck for Palmer.”

Defensemen Alex Pietrangelo and Joel Edmundson scored in regulation.

Edmundson gave the Blues a 1-0, already his career-high fifth of the season.  Arizona’s Brendan Perlini scored twice in the second period, but Pietrangelo tied it with 14:59 left in regulation.

The best in the West Blues (13-3-1), have earned at least one point in their last 16 games against the Coyotes.
