A man is behind bars on suspicion of killing two people Wednesday at Lake Ozark. Police Chief Gary Lauderville says 58-year-old Gary Sweet of mid-Missouri’s Rolla has been charged in the shooting deaths of two RV park workers.

“He had been staying at the Riverview campground for several months and we had a couple of minor incidents with Mr. Sweet prior to that,” says Lauderville. “So we were somewhat familiar with him.”

The names of the victims have not been released, pending notification of next of kin.

“We had a crime scene that we had to secure and process. So, Mr. Sweet did sit in the Phelps County Jail for several hours,” says Lauderville. “Part of our investigation is to make sure we have enough evidence before we try and interview someone so we can do an effective interview.”

Two others are also suffering from minor injuries. No other suspects are wanted in connection to the shooting.
