Cardinals top Nationals to win third straight

The St. Louis Cardinals notched a third straight victory in defeating the Washington Nationals 8-1 Friday night in the series opener at Busch Stadium.

Yadier Molina drove in four runs with a pair of RBI singles.  Rookie Paul DeJong added his sixth homer of the season.

Mike Leake tossed eight outstanding innings to even his record at 6-6 allowing one run and five hits.
