ESPN.com named its All-SEC teams, honoring 25 of the SEC’s best players on offense, defense and special teams. Mizzou wide receiver J’mon Moore made the list. Here was the reasoning for choosing Moore as one of the top two in the league.
The sophomore was one of the big reasons the Tigers offense took a step forward this year, with his SEC-leading 1,012 receiving yards and eight touchdowns. His 62 receptions were fourth among SEC receivers.
Wrong! The big reason the offense took a step forward was based on improved offensive line play and credit needs to be given to Glen Elarbee and the job he did developing a group that had no seniors. Second, the offense developed with the emergence of a run game from freshman Damarea Crockett. Moore caught one-fourth of Drew Lock’s completions but also had several drops and lost three fumbles on the season, one that ended the chances of a comeback against Georgia. He was a hot and cold receiver, who only led the team in receiving yards in six games. He was either really good or just average.
Moore finished the season with eight touchdowns, but only had two in the final eight games of the season and was held to a total of two receptions for 31 yards against the two best teams the Tigers played in the SEC, LSU and Florida.
