North Andrew claims the 8-man title

For the first time ever, the 8-man MSHSAA Show-Me Bowl was played at Faurot Field in Columbia. The North Andrew Cardinals capped off their undefeated season with a 50-22 win over the Stanberry Bulldogs.

North Andrew took advantage of two first half turnovers by the Bulldogs including a 28 yard interception by Aidan DeLong for a pick six.  That gave the Cardinals a 30-8 lead heading into half.

Deryk Goff rushed for 170 yards on 35 carries with two TDs for North Andrew as the Cardinals outgained the Bulldogs 284-206.

North Andrew finishes the season 13-0, with their third state championship in the last four years.  Stanberry has won two of the last five championship games and finishes the season 11-3.

Only one semifinal game was played Friday night and that was in Class 5. Staley was up 31-14 at the half and Vianney rallied to win 34-31.  They were stopped four times at the Staley one with a chance to put the game away, but Staley took over with just over a minute to play.  With the help of two, 15 yard penalties the Falcons were able to take one last crack at the endzone from the Vianney 23, but a pass to the endzone fell incomplete.  The Griffons come away with the huge comeback victory.

The Class 1-5 championships will be played next weekend on the campus of Missouri State in Springfield.
