Marcus Peters stripped Kelvin Benjamin with 20 seconds to go setting up an eventual Cairo Santos 37-yard field goal as time expired to give the Chiefs a 20-17 win over the Carolina Panthers.

The Chiefs rallied from down 17-0.  Carolina opened the door when Chris Jones sacked Newton on third-and-18 at the Kansas City 28, taking the Panthers out of field goal range in the third quarter.  That could have put the Chiefs down by three possessions, but Santos came down and kicked a field goal and then boyhood rivals met up again.

Eric Berry returned a Newton interception 42 yards for a touchdown. A two-point conversion made it 17-14.  Alex Smith later missed a wide open Travis Kelce for the lead and had to settle for a field goal to tie the game.

After the Chiefs had to punt, Carolina took over with under 30 seconds to play when Benjamin caught a pass from Newton, but Peters ripped the ball from his arms . Santos’ fourth field goal of the game gave the Chiefs their fifth straight victory and 17th win in their last 19 games.
