Missouri congresswoman won’t endorse Trump, but will vote for him

Eastern Missouri congresswoman Ann Wagner says she won’t defend Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump’s statements, but she does intend to vote for him. Wagner appeared this week on a St. Louis conservative radio talk show to clarify her plans.

“I have always been voting for Donald Trump, and I will do that next Tuesday, and I encourage everyone listening to vote for Trump as well,” Wagner said.

Wagner staffer Meghan Burris tells Missourinet that the congresswoman won’t be listed as an endorser.

After last month’s release of a video showing Trump making derogatory comments about women in 2005, Wagner withdrew her endorsement for Trump and released a statement on Twitter.

A statement from Missouri Democratic Party chairman Roy Temple criticizes Wagner’s latest announcement.

“Wow. Congresswoman Wagner must really think Trump supporters are stupid,” says Temple.

The statement goes on to say Wagner is re-endorsing Trump after un-endorsing and repeatedly denouncing the nominee.

Wagner faces State Rep. Bill Otto (D-Maryland Heights) in the November 8 general election.
