Alex Smith threw two touchdown passes, and the Chiefs defense was responsible for another score as the Chiefs held off the New Orleans Saints 27-21 on Sunday at Arrowhead.  The victory was the Chiefs’ ninth in a row at home and they improved to 4-2 on the year.

Spencer Ware ran for 77 yards and added 46-yard touchdown reception.  Smith also threw a TD to Tyreek Hill who made a circus catch to turn it into a 38-yard score.

Drew Brees entered the day leading the NFL in passing yards per game at 375.  He was just around his average at 367, but Brees gained most of his yards playing catch up.  Daniel Sorenson picked Brees off a tipped pass.  His score along with Hill’s TD and Ware’s TD on a screen pass turned a 7-0 deficit into a 21-7 first half lead.

Andy Reid coached his 300th game Sunday. Most of those were over his 14 seasons in Philadelphia, where he was 140-102-1. He is now 36-21 in his fourth season with the Chiefs.
