Most government offices are closed Monday, except emergency services like the Missouri State Highway Patrol, state prisons and County Sheriff’s Departments. Some municipal offices, including Columbia, are open today.

Many banks and financial institutions are closed. There will be no regular mail delivery Monday.

President Franklin D. Roosevelt signed legislation in 1934, making Columbus Day a federal holiday.
