The newspaper reports the sale will end 115 years of local ownership. The “Tribune” says the sale was announced Friday during meetings with managers and employees.

GateHouse Media has 14 daily newspapers in Missouri, including the “Boonville Daily News”, the “Moberly Monitor-Index” and the “Mexico Ledger”.

Columbia will be the largest Missouri city where GateHouse owns a daily newspaper. GateHouse Western Division President Jason Taylor told the newspaper that they invested in the “Tribune” because they believe in Columbia’s future.

Terms of the sale have not been disclosed. The newspaper says the sale will be finalized on or about October 1.
