MODOT reminds drivers to give themselves extra time during the Labor Day weekend

September 2, 2016 By Brian Hauswirth

MODOT says all construction work on Missouri’s state routes will end at noon Friday (September 2), for the Labor Day weekend. Construction work resumes statewide on Tuesday morning at 9.

MoDOT Logo 2MODOT spokeswoman Linda Wilson Horn says some work zones have permanent lane closures, including the heavily-traveled Missouri River bridge in Jefferson City.

“If you’re headed to the Lake (of the Ozarks) this weekend, you want to make sure you give yourself extra time on Friday afternoon as well as Monday afternoon,” Wilson Horn says.

Other permanent lane closure work zones include I-70 at Fifth Street in St. Charles and I-44 in St. Louis City.

Wilson Horn encourages you to check modot.org.

“You can find all the work zones in the state on our MODOT traveler information map. So if you’re traveling and want to just check it out, make sure you’re not going to run into anything, you can go to that traveler map off of modot.org,” Wilson Horn says.

MODOT also urges you to slow down and pay attention during the Labor Day holiday weekend.

“This is a busy weekend, so please, you know, drive carefully, put down your phone and limit your distractions. We want everybody to get their holiday destinations and back home safely,” Wilson Horn says.

You can find live camera views and current traffic speed conditions on the website. You can also call MODOT 24-7 toll-free at 1-888-ASK-MODOT.
