The Royals had the bases loaded with one out and failed to score in the tenth inning, ending hopes of a comeback against the Yankees in a 5-4 final on Tuesday night at Kauffman Stadium.

Kendry Morales tied the game on a RBI sac-fly in the bottom of the eighth after the Yankess scored three in the first and one in the second to lead 4-0 against Yordano Ventura. Morales had a solo homer in the fourth.

However, with the bases loaded in the 10th, Morales struck out against Chasen Shreve and then Salvador Perez flew out.

The Yankees regained the lead when Brian McCann and Chase Headley singled off Joakim Soria who struck out Aaron Judge and Tyler Austin.  Soria then walked Brett Gardner and Jacoby Ellsbury lined a single off the Soria’s leg.

The Royals fell three games out of the wild card hunt.
