The red hot Yordano Ventura and the Kansas City Royals knocked off the Miami Marlins 1-0 in the opener of their series in South Beach Tueday.
The Royals have won nine straight.
Ventura notched his ninth win of the season tossing six innings of scoreless baseball. He scattered six hits, walking just one and struck out six.
Lorenzo Cain drove in the lone run for KC, plating Paulo Orlando in the sixth inning.
Kelvin Herrera tossed the ninth for his eighth save.
The defending world champions are still four games out of the AL’s second wild card spot.
