Chiefs lose, but first string offense continues to move the ball

August 21, 2016 By Bill Pollock

The Chiefs suffered another fourth quarter loss, this time the Los Angeles Rams winning 21-20, on Saturday night at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum in Los Angeles, California.

However, the first string offense under Alex Smith and his wide array of targets continue to move the ball with success.

Smith completed three passes on third down to three different receivers, Travis Kelce, Jeremy Maclin and Chris Conley as the Chiefs drove 75 yards in 13 plays on their opening drive, capped by a Spencer Ware two-yard touchdown.

The Rams scored on their first two possessions, but Smith brought the Chiefs back to even with a 20-yard touchdown pass to J-Mac.  Smith converted another third down, this time a 37-yard gain on 3rd and 2 to Conley.

Smith finished the night 9 of 12 for 137 yards passing and a touchdown.
