Rob Zastryzny makes his major league debut in Colorado for the Cubs.

Talk about pressure for your Major League debut?  Former Missouri Tiger left handed pitcher Rob Zastryzny, just added to the Chicago Cubs roster, appeared in a 6-6 game in the bottom of the 10th at Colorado.  While it took him 22 pitches, he didn’t allow a run, despite giving up a hit and two walks.  Zastryzny escaped a bases-loaded jam against the heart of the Rockies’ lineup.  The Cubs eventually lost 7-6 in 11 innings.

He told Cubs.com, “I just picture myself out there on the mound,” Zastryzny said. “When I got to pro ball, I started imagining it at Wrigley Field as a starter and going through my pregame routine and what I would do. It didn’t work out that way, but that was the most fun I’ve ever had in my entire life.”

Zastryzny, a second round pick of the Cubs in 2013, struck out Charlie Blackmon to start the inning on a 90 mph fastball up out of the zone.

He finished his career at Mizzou with 228 strikeouts, good for a top-ten on the all-time list.
