Lorenzo Cain’s RBI single with two outs in the bottom of the 14th sent the Royals to a 3-2 win over the White Sox. The marathon game was extended after both teams scored in the 11th.

Chien-Ming Wang gave up a go-ahead single to Tim Anderson, putting Chicago on top 2-1.  In the bottom half of the 11th, the Royals tied the game on a double by Salvador Perez, scoring Eric Hosmer. Cheslor Cuthbert doubled in a run in the eighth to tie the game at 1-1.

Dillon Gee, the eighth pitcher used by the Royals, picked up the win. J.B. Shuck launched a solo homer for Chicago off Ian Kennedy, his 27th allowed.

The Royals and White Sox play the finale tonight at Kauffman Stadium. Danny Duffy starts for KC. He’s 8-and-1 with a 2.97 ERA on the season. Chicago sends Miguel Gonzalez to the mound. He’s 2-and-6 with a 4.09 ERA. First pitch is at 7:15 p.m.
