Jefferson City Police identify man found under bridge

August 2, 2016 By Brian Hauswirth

Jefferson City Police have identified the man whose body was found under a bridge Monday morning as 51-year-old Michael Guy. Police Captain Doug Shoemaker says Guy had ties to Colorado.

“We do believe he had taken up residence here within Jefferson City, but he does not actually live within a home here within Jefferson City. In other words, he’s homeless,” Shoemaker says.

Captain Shoemaker says detectives are having difficulty locating next of kin, and encourages anyone with information to call police.

“We do believe he has some ties to Colorado, but that might have been some time ago. I believe he was born in Missouri, but absolutely, call us and in particularly contact Detective Mark Edwards, who’s the lead investigator on the case,” Shoemaker says.

Detective Edwards can be reached at (573) 634-6400.

Shoemaker says while there’s nothing suspicious about Guy’s death “on face value”, detectives are not ruling anything out, including drowning from high floodwaters.
