Police Lieutenant Steve Weaver tells Missourinet the body was found at about 9 a.m.

“The Jefferson City Parks and Recreation personnel were down there (near Vivion Field) assessing damage due to the flooding and preparations of what they needed to do to clean up debris and stuff. And that’s when they located what they thought to be a body in the water,” Lt. Weaver says.

Police and firefighters recovered the body.

Detectives have not released the man’s name. Weaver says the investigation continues.
