Missouri junior defensive end Charles Harris has been named to the preseason watch list for the 2016 Bronko Nagurski Award, given annually by the Football Writers’ Association of America (FWAA) to the nation’s defensive player of the year.  It’s the second watch list that Harris has been named to, as earlier this week he was also tabbed as a preseason candidate for the Chuck Bednarik Defensive Player of the Year.

Harris is coming off a 2015 season which saw him emerge as the latest in a long line of standout defensive ends for Mizzou Football.  In his first year as a starter, Harris earned 2nd-Team All-Southeastern Conference honors after leading the league in tackles for loss (18.5) and finishing with seven quarterback sacks while helping lead on the of the nation’s top defensive units.  Harris started all 12 games in 2015, and finished the year with 56 total tackles, two forced fumbles and one pass broken up.
