Salvy busts out of slump to rally Royals past M’s

July 8, 2016 By Bill Pollock

Royals All-Star catcher Salvador Perez entered Thursday night’s opener with Seattle in an 0-for-23 slump.  He busted out in a big way to send fans home happy from Kauffman Stadium.

Perez capped a three-hit night with a double off the wall in the ninth inning  scoring Whit Merrifield and Jarrod Dyson and giving the Royals a 4-3 win.

The Royals were down 3-0 and scored all their runs in the last two innings.

Steve Cishek (2-5) came on to close and gave up a lead off double to Merrifield. Kendrys Morales was hit by a pitch, and Jarrod Dyson came on to run for him.  Eric Hosmer struck out before Perez came through giving rookie Brooks Pounders his first MLB win.
