Royals send All-Star Davis to the DL. Closer isn’t concerned

July 6, 2016 By Bill Pollock

Royals closer Wade Davis, who was named to the All-Star roster for the American League on Tuesday,  was placed on the 15-day disabled list for a forearm strain.

After the Royals 8-3 loss on Tuesday, Davis said he wasn’t concerned and will use the All-Star break to heal.

“I think it’s going to be fine,” Davis said. “It’s just a muscle that tightened up and didn’t go away after a couple of days. But with some time off, I think it’ll be fine.”

The Royals selected the contract of right-hander Brooks Pounders from Triple-A Omaha on Tuesday, and designated for assignment left-hander Tylor Olson to make room on the 40-man roster.

Pounders made his debut against Toronto going two innings and giving up one run and one walk with three strikeouts.
