Royals limp home after getting swept in Toronto

July 6, 2016 By Bill Pollock

Michael Saunders hit a solo homer in the fourth and singled home the winning run in the eighth as the Toronto Blue Jays completed a three-game sweep of the Royals in a 4-2 final on Wednesday.

Marcus Stroman (7-4) pitched eight innings to win for the first time in four starts. Roberto Osuna finished for his 17th save.  The Royals didn’t get a ball out of the infield until the fifth inning.

Ian Kennedy allowed two runs and four hits in six innings. He walked one and struck out 10, one shy of his season high.

After going 1-5 on this road trip, the World Series champs have dropped to fourth place in the Central Division.
