A shaky start was too much to overcome as the Kansas Ciry Royals dropped the finale of a three game series with the Philadelphia Phillies 7-2 on Sunday. The Royals lost two of three in the weekend series to fall back into third place in the AL Central.

Royals starter Yordano Ventura exited in the third inning after spraining his right ankle running the bases following his second career hit. Ventrurs surrendered four earned runs over two and two thirds innings.

The lone runs for Kansas City came on a sixth inning two-run homer from Alex Gordon.
