Flags flying at half-staff

The Cole County Commission voted 2-1 Tuesday not to lower the flags, as directed by President Obama. KWOS radio reports Eastern District Commissioner Jeff Hoelscher and Western District Commissioner Kris Scheperle voted against lowering the flags, saying the shooting was tragic but does not meet the requirements for that gesture.

Flags are flying at half-staff at state government buildings at many Missouri cities’ buildings, as well as at many Missouri businesses.

49 people were killed and more than 50 hospitalized by a gunman at the Orlando night club before he was shot and killed.
