Ventura keeps his cool and pitches Royals past Sox

June 12, 2016 By Bill Pollock

Yordano Ventura went seven innings in his first start since his plunked Baltimore’s Manny Machado, and the Royals beat the Chicago White Sox 3-1 on Sunday for their second straight win after losing eight straight.

The Royals come back home for a seven-game homestand.

Ventura improved to 5-4 and struck out a season-high ten with one walk.  It was his first win since May 17.

The Royals scored on RBI singles in the first and second. Salvador Perez added cushion with a leadoff homer down the left-field line in the ninth that just cleared the pole.
