The Royals got some good starting pitching in their six-game homestand sweep over the struggling White Sox and last place Tampa Bay Rays.  When they hit the road for Cleveland on Thursday, things went from bad to worse.  The Royals were swept in their four game series, losing Sunday 7-0.  The starting pitching was bad and the offense was very good either this weekend.

Following Thursday’s 5-4 loss, the Royals were outscored 20-2 over the next three games and starters Edinson Volquez, Ian Kennedy and Chris Young combined for a 7.94 ERA, allowing 15 of those runs and eight homers.

The Indians drilled four more homers on Sunday, all off Young.  Mike Napoli, Tyler Naquin, Carlos Santana and Francisco Lindor all had solo shots. Chris Young didn’t make it out of the fifth inning in his sixth loss as the Royals fell to 11-and-19 on the road.

The Royals started the series up 2.5 games on the Indians, and now find themselves down 1.5 games, but manager Ned Yost isn’t panicking over the situation.
