Mike Napoli’s sacrifice fly scored Francisco Lindor with the winning run in a two-run ninth inning as the Indians beat the Royals 5-4 on Thursday night in Cleveland.

The loss snapped the Royals six game losing streak and cut their lead to one over the Indians in the Central.

Joakim Soria worked the ninth after Wade Davis was given the night off pitching on consecutive days.

It wasn’t all Soria’s fault.  Paulo Orlando botched two plays in right field that kickstarted the ninth inning rally.

Carlos Santana singled and took second Orlando’s fielding error. After Jason Kipnis’ sacrifice, Francisco Lindor hit a line drive to right.

Orlando attempted to make a diving catch but the ball rolled to the wall. The run scored and Lindor Made it to third.

Napoli’s fly ball to left was deep enough to score Lindor.

Orlando should have never left his feet.  Even a diving catch allows the tying run to score, keep the winning run at first base with one out.  Instead the gutsy move put the winning run 90 feet away.
