Seven people died in traffic crashes on Missouri roads during the Memorial Day weekend. That’s one fewer than during the same period last year.

Between 6 p.m. Friday and midnight Tuesday morning, the Patrol worked 347 road crashes that injured 128 people and included six fatalities. The seventh occurred in a crash investigated by Springfield police. 298 traffic crashes were worked by the Patrol during the 2015 Memorial Day Weekend, including 98 injuries and five of the eight fatalities.
135 people were arrested for driving while intoxicated. Last year, 105 such arrests were made.
The Patrol investigated no boating fatalities over the holiday weekend, but it did handle 17 crashes including seven injuries. The Patrol investigated no drownings. 21 people were arrested for boating while intoxicated and 71 drug arrests were made.
During the 2015 Memorial Day weekend there were eight boating crashes including one injury and no fatalities. There were no drownings. 15 arrests were made for boating while intoxicated during last year’s holiday weekend.
