Yordano Ventura was wild again and the Royals offense could only manage a late run to fall in the series opener in Cleveland by the final of 7-1 Friday night.

Ventura walked five, increasing his AL-leading total to 25, while allowing five runs in four innings.

Alex Gordon’s ninth-inning single scoring Eric Hosmer produced the Royals’ only run. The Royals have been shut out four times and accounted for just 21 runs over the last 10 games.

Royals third baseman Mike Moustakas was scratched from the lineup because of a sore left thumb. Moustakas was listed in the lineup, but was removed about two hours before game time.
