The Cardinals 5-4 win over the Philadelphia Phillies could be the kick start this team needs.  The offense has been scoring runs, the bullpen has been great.  This club just needs to get the starting pitching in order.  With their first walk-off win of the year, it keeps the Cardinals seven game behind the Cubs and gives them a little momentum as they get back to .500 at 14-14.

With Jaime Garcia starting against the Phillies at 12:45 and a weekend matchup with Pittsburgh at home, the club has the chance to chase down the division front runners with the Cubs hosting red hot Washington.

The Cardinals could have packed it in last night.  It was another sub-par start for Mike Leake.  He allowed four runs, including a three-run homer from Ryan Howard in the fourth.  Down 4-0 it would have been very easy for the offense to call it a night.

They answered with a three-run fifth inning off Phillies starter Adam Morgan and got the team right back in the game.  Aledmys Diaz was right in the middle of it all  Another hit and a walk, two RBIs from the rookie.  Stephen Piscotty had a 3-for-5 night and clutch pinch hitting led the rally for Matt Holliday’s game winner with two outs with Diaz scoring the winner.
