The Royals were beat 13-2 as the Washington Nationals finished with 16 hits taking the series finale on Wednesday afternoon.  Starter Kris Medlen gave up nine runs, six earned after the defense committed two, first-inning errors.  Stephen Strasburg improved to 5-0, going seven innings allowing two runs on five hits.

Washington scored six runs in the first inning after the first two hitters reached on errors.  Medlen then allowed four straight hits and a sacrifice fly.  After a scoreless second, Drew Butera doubled in a run and Alcides Escobar followed with an RBI single for Kansas City’s only runs in the bottom of the second.

The Nationals had their first three batters reach on Medlen before Danny Duffy took over.  Duffy allowed three singles and a sac fly as the Nats opened a 10-2 lead.

Daniel Murphy finished a triple shy of the cycle and three RBIs and Bryce Harper also hit a homer.  Both home runs came off Dillon Gee.
