Lorenzo Cain provided the game winning hit

Lorenzo Cain hit a two-out single bringing home Mike Moustakas and giving the Royals a 7-6 victory over the Washington Nationals.

The Royals were down 6-3 in the eighth when they scratched out a run on a fielder’s choice.

Facing Jonathan Papelbon in the ninth, they had back-to-back singles. Papelbon struck out Omar Infante, but later Moose had a pinch hit single through the left side to tie the game.

Alcides Escobar singled to center, and Cain ripped an 0-2 pitch in left-center to help the Royals win for the second time in eight games.
