National Weather Service Meteorologist Chris Bowman says storms tonight could develop along the I-70 corridor.

“A few of those could be on the strong to severe side with potential for some hail with those,” said Bowman.

Those storms will dissipate late Tuesday morning, then storms are expected to move into western Missouri Tuesday evening and overnight that could pose greater threats.

“Should form into a fairly large complex of thunderstorms that’ll move into eastern Kansas and Western Missouri and there could be potential for some large hail, damaging winds, and even a few tornadoes with that activity,” said Bowman.

Bowman encourages people in western Missouri to pay attention to weather forecasts and watches and warnings over the next couple of days.

“Having a method to get warnings. There’s a number of smartphone apps that people can use, there’s media outlets that have alerting systems and there’s even weather radios,” said Bowman.

Bowman says areas that see repeated downpours could also experience localized or flash flooding.
