Dyson to start the year on the DL as Royals set roster

April 3, 2016 By Bill Pollock

The Kansas City Royals announced today that they have finalized their 25-man roster for Opening Night tonight against the New York Mets at Kauffman Stadium.
The Royals have selected the contract of right-handed pitcher Chien-Ming Wang, adding him to the 25-man Major League roster. To make room, the club has placed left-handed pitcher Tim Collins on the 60-day disabled list, with a left ulnar collateral ligament (UCL) injury. The Royals have also placed outfielder Jarrod Dyson on the 15-day D.L., with a right oblique strain. Dyson’s D.L. placement is retroactive to March 25.
The club has re-assigned pitchers David Huff and John Lannan as well as infielders Cody Decker and Whit Merrifield to minor league camp.
The Royals currently have 40 players on their 40-man roster, with left-handed pitchers Mike Minor, Jason Vargas and Collins on the 60-day disabled list. Kansas City’s 25-man Opening Day roster is attached.
