The Northwest Missouri State men’s basketball team extended their winning streak to 11-games with a hard fought 77-74 win over visiting Emporia State on Wednesday night.

The Bearcats were led by sophomore and former Blue Springs South product Justin Pitts, who scored 21 points and already reached theĀ 1,000 career point mark.

“It feels great to do it in only two seasons,” Pitts told bearcatssports.com. “I don’t think I scored a thousand points in high school. It is a big accomplishment for me, and I am grateful for it.”

Watch Pitts, who is only 5’9, use soft touch off the glass to reach the milestone.

Last season,Ā Pitts was named first team All-MIAA and was the MIAA Freshman of the Year in 2014-15. Ā He also was named to the NABC All-Central District second team and earned NCAA Central Region All-Tournament honors, while appearing in 28 games.

As a freshman, Pitts averaged a team-best 17.2 points per game withĀ 482 points, 92 assists, 79 rebounds, 45 steals and four blocked shots.
