Both the Blues and the Chicago Blackhawks have played a high volume of games in the last month.  The Blues were catching the Hawks tired and fighting through a two-game losing streak after setting a franchise record with 13 wins.  After a quick start, the Blues fizzled and lost Sunday evening 2-0 in Chicago.

Rookie Artemi Panarin broke a scoreless tie with a one-timer that beat Brian Elliott off a deflection from the stick of defenseman Kevin Shattenkirk.  Panarin leads all NHL rookies in points after getting a cross ice pass from NHL points leader Patrick Kane.

Early in the third, Chicago scored a power play goal when Marian Hossa’s shot was tipped under the crossbar by Andrew Shaw.

The Blues came out flying out-shooting Chicago 12-6, but Corey Crawford denied the Blues with another strong performance.  Crawford has won ten of his last 11 starts and has a league leading 7th shutout.  Brian Elliott made 23 saves.
