No. 20 Mizzou Women’s Basketball (14-2, 1-2) lost 83-58 to No. 2 South Carolina (15-0, 3-0) on Sunday afternoon in front of 15,934 fans at Colonial Life Arena, the most to ever watch a game in program history. Cierra Porter (Columbia, Mo.) led the Tigers with 10 points and seven rebounds whileSophie Cunningham (Columbia, Mo.) and Jordan Frericks (Quincy, Ill.) each added nine points.

Great experience for this up and coming Missouri team to play in front of that type of atmosphere.

“Give South Carolina all the credit,” head coach Robin Pingeton said. “They are a really good team. We’ve got to do a better job taking care of the ball and having poise. I thought we did a good job on the boards.”

Tiffany Mitchell led the Gamecocks with 19 points. A’ja Wilson recorded a double-double with 11 points, 11 rebounds and six blocks and Alaina Coates also notched a double-double with 13 points and 12 rebounds.

Missouri, known for their strong three-point shooting, has struggled in their two SEC games against ranked opponents.  After going 2-for-21 against Tennessee in the conference opener, the Tigers were just 4-of-21 from three on Sunday.  Another tough test coming on Thursday when the Tigers are home against 7th ranked Mississippi State.
