Greg Zuerlein’s 48-yard field goal attempt was blocked by Dontae Johnson, giving San Francisco the ball back with 4:49 to play in overtime. Former Missouri Tigers Blaine Gabbert, who passed for 354 yards, drove the Niners down the field for a 23-yard field goal from Phil Dawson as the Rams lost 19-16.

The Rams finish the season 7-9, marking their ninth straight losing season.

Gabbert showed his poised.  He got popped a few times when he dropped back to pass, and made some mistakes, but managed to pull out the win for the 5-11 49ers.

Case Keenum went 22 of 37 for 231 yards as St. Louis had its three-game winning streak snapped as the Rams tried for four consecutive victories for the first time since seven straight in 2003.

Tre Mason, filling in for injured Todd Gurley, had just 44 yards on 18 carries.

Rams head coach Jeff Fisher called the game “very disappointing.”

As far as whether or not this is the Rams final game as a representative of St. Louis, Fisher said,

“Until we know what’s going on, there’s no reason to discuss it.  You just wait it out and see what happens. I’ve been through this before.”

Fisher was with the Oilers when they moved from Houston to Tennessee.
