Five international soldiers who were training at Fort Leonard Wood and drowned during flooding Saturday have been identified.

The soldiers were returning to the fort from Osage Beach when their vehicle was swept off the road at a low-water crossing near Crocker.

They were Major Mohammad Hassan Ibrahim, 32 of Egypt; Major Akram Abu Al-rub, 38 of Jordan; Captain Ahmed Moussouni, 32 of Algeria; Captain Ahmed Abdelghani, 29 of Egypt; and Captain Hasman Hussin, 33 of Malaysia.

The five were attending officer education at the Fort’s Maneuver Support Center of Excellence. Their remains are being returned home for burial and services.

14 people have died in connection to the storms that caused heavy flooding in Missouri.  Most of those died when they were in a vehicle swept away by flooding.
