Jori Lehtera is tended to on the ice after getting hit with a stick

Brandon Saad scored the go-ahead goal in the second period in a period dominated by the Columbus Blue Jackets and he added an empty-netter for his ninth goal of the season in the Blue Jackets’ 3-1 win over the Blues on Tuesday night.

Brian Elliott made 20 of his 35 saves in the second period, although Saad got one by him at 4:10 to put Columbus ahead 2-1. The Blues had four shots in the period.

St. Louis center Jori Lehtera left the game with 8:27 remaining in the first period after getting tangled up with Saad, whose stick hit him in the face. There was no penalty.

Lehtera was taken to the hospital after being hit in the throat area. Coach Ken Hitchcock did not have an update on Lehtera’s condition and said there would be one Wednesday.
