All major arteries into Kansas City are crammed with stop and go traffic as an estimated 500,000 Royals fans try to make their way into downtown for the parade and rally.

Organizers were urging fans to plan ahead, arrive early and carpool if possible.  The city has been providing free shuttles to and from the parade all across the metro.  Lines of up to as many as 5,000 fans have been waiting for shuttles in certain areas with many lining up since 8 a.m.

“Expect to enjoy yourself, expect to be here awhile, wear comfortable shoes,” Kansas City spokesman Chris Hernandez said.  “It’s going to be a great time.”

Some fans have been camping out as early as 4 a.m. along the parade route  Some came into downtown on Monday night, bought hotel rooms and plan to walk to the parade and rally.

A caravan of vehicles with Royals players, coaches, team officials and their families will be escorted by a motorcade. The parade begins between the Power & Light District and Sprint Center and will head north before turning east for one block and continuing south to Union Station where a victory rally is planned.

The World Series party is expected to cost about $350,000 with city officials saying most of that will be covered by sponsors.
