The Royals celebrate their 2015 World Series

The Kansas City Royals are World Series Champions again after a 30-year wait.  The Royals are also the first team since 2002 to win all four of there games after trailing.

They did it in typical Royals fashion, rallying from a 2-0 deficit to tie the game in the ninth inning.  Then the Royals busted through with a five-run 12th inning.

Christian Colon singled home the tiebreaking run in the 12th inning after Jarrod Dyson stole second base, running for Salvador Perez who singled. Alcides Escobar doubled home a run and Lorenzo Cain later cleared the bases with a double.

The Royals used their speed and crafty baserunning to tie the game in the 9th off Matt Harvey and closer Jeurys Familia.

Cain opened the inning with a single and stole second base.  He then scored on Eric Hosmer’s double. That was all for Harvey.  Familia got Mike Moustakas to ground out, moving Hosmer to third.

Cain stole second for his fifth steal of this postseason in the first inning breaking a four-way tie with Alex Gordon (2014), Willie Wilson (1985) and Amos Otis (1978). He finished the postseason with six.

90 feet away once again, but this time the Royals would not be denied.  Perez grounded to third and Hosmer broke on the throw to first.  Lucas Duda’s relay home was late and the Royals tied the game on that gutsy move.

Kelvin Herrera pitched a scoreless ninth.  Luke Hochevar pitched two scoreless innings of relief and Wade Davis finished it off in the 12th striking out the side around a two-out single.

Familia becomes the first World Series pitcher to blow three saves.

Salvador Perez was named the MVP, batting .364.
